In over 150 years of professional baseball history, there have only been 23 perfect games, three of which were pitched by Yankees pitchers: Don Larsen, October 8, 1956 (World Series); David Wells, May 17, 1998; and David Cone, July 18, 1999. All three pitchers are winners of multiple World Series Championships, Larsen being the only pitcher in baseball history to pitch a perfect game in a World Series or postseason game.
Wells and Cone are three and five-time All-Stars respectively. Wells led the AL in wins in 2000 recording 20 wins, as well as leading the league in complete games. Wells’ 1998 teammate, David Cone, led the MLB in wins that year. Cone is also a CY Young award winner and has twice led the MLB in strikeouts.
