14-time All Star catcher, Johnny Bench, spent his entire 17 year career with the Cincinnati Reds, leading the Reds to two World Series Championships as part of the dominant “Red Machine”, along with teammates Joe Morgan, George Foster and Pete Rose. Bench was awarded the 1975 World Series MVP, as well as two career NL MVPs in 1970 and 1972 after leading the league in home runs and RBIs both seasons, making him the only catcher in history to lead the league in home runs. Additionally, Bench was awarded the 1968 Rookie of the Year, as well as winning 10 consecutive (1968-1977) Gold Glove Awards for his defensive performance behind home plate.
Bench was inducted to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1989 (first ballot) with a 96.42% vote.
