Edwin Donald “Duke” Snider or “The Duke of Flatbush” is remembered as the great center fielder and hitter for the Dodgers for 16 seasons. An 8-time All-Star and NL MVP runner-up (1955) to his teammate, Roy Campanella, Snider appeared with his Dodgers in six World Series and led his team to two World Championships in 1955 and 1959. 1955 and 1956 proved to be great years for Snider, leading the NL in RBI’s and home runs respectively. He hit 40 or more home runs in 5 consecutive seasons from 1953-1957. In 1956, Snider also led the league in OBP, OPS and Slugging Percentage.
Snider was elected into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1980.
