Gibson pitched 17 seasons for the Cardinals from 1959-1975. Gibson claimed two World Series victories (1964 & 1967), winning the MVP in both series and most notably pitching three complete game victories in the 1967 World Series. The following season (1968), Gibson was even more impressive as the NL MVP, achieving a 1.12 ERA and shutting out the Tigers with 17 strikeouts in game 1 of the World Series. He’s a 9 time All-Star, 9 time Gold Glove award winner and the winner of two CY Youngs. He ended his career having tossed over 3000 strikeouts and a career ERA of 2.91.
Gibson was a first ballot inductee into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1981.
